The hat designs were first created in the spring of 2012.  I was experimenting with thin forms using the lamination technique when a friend came by my studio.  While I was working, he picked up one of the thin form experiments and put it on his head.  When I looked up at him I instantly saw the potential of using thin forms to create hats.  The first design I thought of was a simple baseball hat using a horizontal layering technique that you see here.
